I’m not sure about yours but it’s my belief that Soccer conditioning is possible the best method of building and maintaining team’s fitness levels. Soccer fitness, to someone who is not conversant with the term, would mean a fitness plan devised to perk up the physical conditions of players.
Every coach must make sure that player’s performance is improved with every training session which includes both individual and group exercises for this purpose. Conditioning is base on 5 factors that must be adequately addressed; warm-up, strength, endurance, agility and speed. These account for the basics of any training program. I’ll quickly explain these for you.
Warm up: There are 3 parts to it that impact conditioning. First, it makes the body ready for a grueling session ahead. Next, it eliminates the possibility of muscle pulls and sprains. Last but not least, it improves the player’s flexibility that holds great importance in the game of soccer.
Strength: It is an undisputed fact that only those players who have a great body and scores of energy win matches for the team. Soccer conditioning which incorporates weight training allows players to build muscles and get strong also paves the way to making physically powerful players. When players are strong, it significantly affects the speed, balance, shielding, headers, balance and shooting abilities.
Endurance: It refers to a player’s skill to take control of the complete match. If they do not have enough endurance, fatigue will set in and that will spell doom for your team’s prospects. It should come as a relief to you that you do not need to plan any specific soccer exercises. All aerobic activities such as sprints, forward runs, long passes and so on help build endurance. Just ensure that players keep working with these and do a lot of running both on and off the field.
Agility: This helps the players in both attacking and defending. When the players are alert, it can make the difference between great dribbling and a turnover. It leads to successful tackling and may earn you a penalty kick. Also, improving your agility will also improve finishing, receiving, shielding and jumping in addition to dribbling and tackling.
Speed: It is vital in soccer but it is a mistake to consider it everything. As they say, it is not the players but the ball that should do the maximum running. But let it be understood that players who are good runners and quick eventually help their teams win. So, it is a good idea to include a lot of drills in the soccer workouts that help the players work on their speed.
